My blog is a look into the most current projects I have been doing and things I am passionate about. Feel free to leave any comments, and have a great day!
A little while ago I had the opportunity to capture two beautiful women- Karlee and Samantha! Karlee scheduled a sister shoot as well as Sam's senior photos, and we had a blast capturing them! The energy that Karlee and Sam brought was amazing, though I believe that is just their personalities! They are both very bubbly, hilarious, outgoing, girly, and gorgeous. Watching these two ladies interact was great and I am thankful they were comfortable being themselves around me. I enjoyed getting to know both Karlee and Samantha individually- I loved learning about their aspirations and passions! These ladies are so genuine, kind, and value their family so much. The love Karlee and Sam have for one another is beautiful! I admire how Karlee takes care of her younger sister and is a great role model for her. Sam is about to enter into the beginning of adulthood, and having a close relationship with her older sister is invaluable. Since Karlee and Sam were so open to my ideas, interactive with each other, and comfortable in front of my camera, I captured a lot of great images and had a very hard time narrowing down my favorites!
My boyfriend and I joke every now and then that we are taking a "Boulder Vacation Day." Usually, one of these days occur when we want to take a day off of work, school, and second jobs to spend time together or when the weather is too nice to be productive! We have enjoyed a few of these Boulder Vacations together, and they are no comparison to the vacation week we just spent with our family! My Mom and Grandma arrived in Colorado along with Hadi's Dad, Mom and Sister for a week of fun. I really loved showing our family where we live in Colorado, where we work and why we are so passionate about living in Boulder! One of the best ways to get to know someone better is by sharing a meal- I'm glad our families were able to connect while enjoying some amazing food! It was the first trip that our families experienced together, and it was so nice seeing how well everyone gets along. It was also kind of interesting to see how similar our family dynamics are! Having my family here made Boulder feel even more like home. Our families know that Hadi and I are happy and thriving in a beautiful place- both his and my mom said that made them feel better than anything! To wrap up our time together, I captured a few family photos at Chautauqua Park while we gazed at the sunset in awe of the beginning of fall in the Rocky Mountains. This trip made me realize that I have to see my family more often because saying goodbye was so hard. These images help remind me of the great time we had and make me look forward to when we are together again! Also, Thank you Don (Hadi's Dad) for helping capture imagery that included me in the photo! It doesn't happen as often as I'd like.
Recently I had the pleasure of capturing the love of Jonathan and Laurel Witt (and their Australian Shepard, Border Collie mix- Radar) at Chautauqua park! It was the first shoot Hadi has tagged along on, and for some reason I was kind of nervous! My anxiety was shattered and replaced with excitement with the first press of my shutter. Conversation flowed easily and we had a really great time shooting- It is always funny how fast time flies when you are having fun! I had never been to Chautauqua park, but I am glad we went because it is the best view of the Flatirons that I've seen so far. Summertime in Colorado is amazing- I overheard someone the other day say "Colorado is God's Country. He shows off his beautiful creation every day here." I would have to agree...every day I am in awe of the beauty of where I live!
Jonathan and Laurel are some of the most genuine and loving people I have met since my move to Colorado. I am thankful the Witts are part of our church family and are also our neighbors! I look forward to the growth of our new friendship. I really enjoyed capturing the love Jonathan and Laurel have for one another and for their pup. Here are some of my favorite captures from the shoot:
I have been thinking a lot lately about what my brand is and what it means to me. With that process, I have also been working on updating my brand and making every part of my photography business more cohesive! I have learned that the more passion, time, and thought I put into my business the more I enjoy what I do! I discovered recently that your life can be impacted dramatically when you work on something you are incredibly in love with because it fuels happiness in multiple aspects of life. Building a brand is not just a monthly thought, but an every day choice to be genuine and kind in everything I do. Kaitlyn Porter Lifestyle Imagery provides a service that people need and want. We capture genuine life moments through still and video imagery by making our clients feel like they can display their true self. Families, Couples, and Individuals let me capture a little piece of their life with each photo session. Without their trust, love, and friendship I could never get the unique perspective and beautiful images that I do. Below is a sample of some new marketing materials I have created, along with the new Kaitlyn Porter Lifestyle Photography Logo! As always, thoughts are warmly welcomed.
I had a wonderful time capturing the Cook family a couple of weeks ago! We spent an hour or so at Scott Carpenter Park in Boulder, CO playing with bubbles, exploring the playground, and rolling down the big hill! Andrew, Megan and their son Michael are so genuine and great company to have. Michael just turned 3 and is so full of energy! He loves to play in the dirt, eat gummies, and have fun. His joy for life is incredible!
Portraiture is so wonderful because it allows me to get a glimpse into other people's lives while challenging me to capture a visual display of their love for one another. Andrew, Megan and I connected about a lot of things and I hope we have the beginning of a great friendship! The cook family is beautiful inside and out- I am so excited to show these portraits with you.
