Never Forget

While in New York for spring break, my group went to visit the 9/11 memorial.  As soon as we got within four blocks, the streets of New York fell silent.  It was as if everyone had stopped whatever they were doing to pay their respects.  I never realized how many people died in the attacks until nearly 3,000 names were engraved in the waterfall before me.  I can't imagine what that day was like to the people of New York or the families of the attacks, but I do know that that day forever changed our country.  In some way we as Americans are all joined by the attacks of 9/11. That bond was shown especially at the memorial, and it made me very proud to say I am an American.  If you ever get the chance to go see it, I highly recommend it.  It is a truly special experience.
